Final Home Study Pieces

Today we got our financial statement completed and notarized. Daniel has a notary that he works with, so getting things notarized is very easy. We just pop in her office and are quickly done. And she is so happy to help! This is just another very painless and blessed portion of our journey.
And we put it in the mail – so that it can be put with the forms that are heading to immigration (CIS) on the 15th of this month.

Some key phrases for the next few months:

CIS (Citizenship and Immigration Services) – This is where we will first send several documents, including our home study. The CIS is the organization that will give our daughter her Visa. So our first step is opening an immigration file for our family.

The Wait Time – The time between 1) our dossier arriving in China and being translated and 2) getting our referral (our notification of our turn to travel to China to get our child)

The Dossier – the big pile of paperwork that we will be compiling over the next few months that has to be notarized and authenticated - then sent to China

What I know now….
The wait time right now is 24 months. Our wait time will hopefully begin sometime this summer. However, with the Olympics being in Beijing this year and the Chinese New Year closing all government offices the first 2 weeks of February, the wait time is projected to increase to 36 months. This seems a little daunting and scary. But every step of the way has been guided and blessed by God. So I know that whatever happens will be His perfect will. We have continued hope, strength, patience and joy – all the prayer, love and support we are receiving is making such a difference in our lives.

Just to refresh, you wait time does not begin until your dossier is submitted to Atlanta?
